Pathway to Success
We NEED Your Help!
We see three parts of establishing the Alabama Hall of Valor:
- Building a museum
- Creating a mobile museum
- Enabling education programs and efforts
The Museum Will Be Amazing
Our plan is for a 20,000 square foot facility. The centerpiece, of course, will be the Hall of Valor. Imagine a unique site where you will be able to share the stories of the 22 Medal of Honor Recipients. Pictures, stories, videos not merely about those events that earned them the Medal, but real life of exposure to their actual lives.
Here’s Where It Gets Even Better
These individuals inspired people to be great citizens. There will be rotating displays highlighting all of the various actions that American citizens did in our military. The inspiration to Americans isn’t merely serving in the military. Citizens on the home front have consistently served our country. A display will highlight many of these efforts. We’re planning on hosting significant displays from museums around the country to enhance our exhibits.
One of the highlights of the museum will be a theater/meeting room. We anticipate a lot of people will want to take advantage of our educational efforts, but don’t have a place to conduct it. Our facility will be capable of hosting two different groups at the same time!
Of course, operating the museum will depend not only on financial support, but also volunteering in a myriad of areas. We are lucky to have one of the best militaria collectors that I know on board to help us. His displays have always set amazing standards. He will love mentoring people in learning more about the militaria and what it means. Docents, guides, you-name-it will all be needed.
The Mobile Museum Will Spread the Message
The mobile museum will be a movable, smaller version of the fixed facility. Traveling around to events, schools, churches will help share the vision and message of the fixed museum.
Our Educational Programs and Efforts Will Be World-Class
The Congressional Medal of Honor Society has developed amazing programs to teach future generations courage, commitment, integrity, sacrifice, citizenship, and patriotism to students, the six values that are embodied in the Medal of Honor and exemplified in the actions for which it has been awarded. We plan on taking advantage of their curriculums in our programs.
